Nasa, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, spends about $24 billion a year for research and production of technology (“Nasa”). This amount of spending is considered to be a waste by people that don’t believe in Nasa’s mission or people that want that money to be used towards something else. Spending money on Nasa is beneficial because of their space exploration and their efforts in trying to solve climate change.
It was during the cold war when Nasa was launched, around 1945-1991 (“Nasa”). Nasa is known for aerospace travel and technology. In 2012, Nasa requested a budget of $18.7 billion. While this seems like an unnecessary amount of money, what is being used for is worth it. Nasa claims that the money is being used for missions to expand our knowledge and innovation of technology to improve life (Bolden). Adding to Nasa’s focus on exploration and innovation. They work on making aircraft, satellites, and telescopes more efficient. They use this to help improve the search and study of extraterrestrial life and space (“Nasa”). Nasa is not just exploring space, there is still much of earth to be explored and Nasa uses their technology towards that. Exploring earth and investing time in research on earth is important because Nasa says that since the planet earth is constantly changing, using research and technology to inhabit other plants will benefit the humans and other organisms on earth. Nasa is not only researching and experimenting in ways to just leave earth. Recently, Nasa has been putting money towards satellites and research in earth's atmosphere and environment (“Mission”). Nasa has been able to track storms and weather patterns. A major threat to earth, humans, and other organisms is global warming. This is one reason why Nasa is trying to inhabit other planets. But they are also trying to solve this issue (Mission). Launched satellites that are a part of what Nasa calls, the ESE program, have been a
Nasa is not only researching and experimenting in ways to just leave earth. Launched satellites that are a part of what Nasa calls, the ESE program, have been able to predict global atmospheric and climate changes (Mission). Due to the fact that the weather on earth is changing, Nasa's research and experiments in this subject will predict and adapt to the changes. Nasa is able to predict global warming patterns with technology which will be helpful in the efforts to prevent global warming (Mission).
In conclusion, spending money on Nasa is beneficial to earth's environment and the organisms living in it due to their research in climate change and the atmosphere. It is also beneficial because of their experiments in trying to inhabit other plants by sending space probes. Nasa's goal is to make life better and easier.
